You are paying extra to play ps3 in HD. By using AV cables you are wasting its potential. Use HDMI to get the HD resolution.

HDMI cables are only worth the extra money if the tv you connect the PS3 to is HD. meaning if you connect to an analog tv, or to an HDTV through something like a VCR, then HDMI cables won't even work

if you have a HD TV and an open hdmi port then go for the hdmi you get a clearer image. if you don't have an hdmi the next best thing would be a composite cord.

hdmi aren't evil

HDMI, they would look better, they perform better, they sound better; and how or why does your dad think they're evil? what's so evil about them? just go buy them and have yourself a Merry Christmas; it will be a lot of fun.

A/V cables are more common and I would choose them because they work on most televisions, vcrs, and stereos. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
