Im not a fan of rap myself but here's a the truth whenever there's somethings popular there's always going to be a fair share of people who bash at it, its bound to happen.

i think it's because you have people who see or hear about rappers on t.v. or in the news in legal trouble or getting arrested for having weed on them and they assume that rap is bad. You also have congress against rap music and old heads are quick to jump to a conclusion without hearing both sides of the story. And the last reason I think people hate rap is because racism still lives today. Some people on here might say it don't but I'm sure they have seen some form of it and people just don't want to see a person of color be sucessful in anything but filling up jail cells.

I'm guessing you guys haven't been out side the rap section, but polls and surveys have the most idiots and thus the most sh*t talkers. Rap section hasn't seen sh*t compared to them. You sometimes get threats of genocide in the polls and surveys. Just think about it, rap isn't that hated man. Just actin' like a bunch of victims(no offence).

Have you ever spent time in the Religion and Spirituality section? I mean that is pure hatred in that section from the Atheist. You gotta realize that this is only music. That is a lifestyle and strong belief to them.

Racism is partly to blame. Rap started with black people, and it is still dominated by black artists. Also, some people aren't used to music where the lyrics aren't sung. They don't understand that poetry is recited.

Because they don't understand it and really don't take the time out to understand it and really listen to it. It's sad really. If they listened to some GOOD rap I'd bet that they would even find a song or two that they liked. But of course, they'd be to arrogant to admit it.

That's news to me. I had no idea that there were any hated sections on Y&A. I don't get out much though, I mainly make my home in P&S.

Because most rap sucks and people are quick to judge it without looking into the actual genre first.
There is some good rap, you just have to look for it.
