Do any of you think that celebrating Kwanzaa is against Christian beliefs?

I did celebrate it before and didn't particularly care for it. I found it a bit boring, and most of my family either didn't really seem to care or grasp what it was exactly about. Also it was pretty obvious that the kids didn't seem to enjoy Kwanzaa as much as Christmas, and although we don't celebrate Kwanzaa, my family and I still practice what it represents: family values, community, self improvement, pride in your roots, culture, and heritage, etc.

- No I don't think it goes against any Christian beliefs. When I think of what Kwanzaa represents, I think more of history, heritage, community, family, and love; rather than traditions or practices that may contradict or go against the Bible.

Kwanzaa, like Thanksgiving, is a spiritual holiday without religious dogma attached. Kwanzaa really celebrates the values of community, particularly the African-American community. I've participated in Kwanzaa once or twice, and have found in it a spiritual or gut connection to my ethnic identity that I've felt with no other holiday, probably like the Irish feel with St. Patrick's Day or the Jews with Passover.

However, I usually don't celebrate it because I don't need it. Christmas is meaningful enough for me, and now we have Martin Luther King Day circa January 15.

No. you are wrong. Juneteenth was made to celebrate the last of the slaves being freed in Texas. Most of the slaves were free at the time. The ones in Texas simply didnt get the memo. By not celebrating fourth of July you denying our ancestors involvement in the creation of this country. There are many blacks in this country who put thier lives on the line to make this country what it is today.

if you are christian, be wary of kwanzaa. the creator, a man convicted of pouring detergent down a woman's mouth, squeezing another woman's toe in a vice, and hitting them both in the heads with toaster ovens, is very anti-christian. he says "jesus is psychotic" and criticizes christianity nonstop in his book, "the quotable karenga"

I don't think it is religious. But then again I don't really know what it is. I never met anyone who celebrates that.
