Not. As per the rest of the mythology about Scientology (which includes space-ships, alien-mating, and a lot of other baloney) -- this sort of thing comes from hysterical folks who have nothing better to do than say things that give them a reason to be walking around terrified and confused. SOMEBODY HAS TO BE RESPONSIBLE!

It's the same sort of ethic that has produced witch-burnings, or made "good people" gang up to lynch black people. Dianetics and Scientology, while they might be defined as "a Cult" in that they subscribe unequivocally to the teachings of their founder, L. Ron Hubbard, represent no more threat to the public or its own adherents than say, being a Mormon does. Of course there have been myriad ridiculous rumors about Mormon practices as well.

It is true that during the 60's and 70's, the Church of Scientology engaged in some pro-active practices, even espionage, against the government and some individuals by whom they felt threatened, rightly or wrongly. But these practices were formally ended in a general amnesty against their "enemies" in the early 80's, and are no longer part of that organization, either internally or externally.

I might be arguable whether Scientology is "a religion" or simply a very specific type of mental-health therapy. There again, you might say the same thing about many less controversial disciplines, such as yoga, or Zen Buddhism -- both of which sometimes have their adepts do things which might appear strange to the outsider.

As far as the implied extreme sexual deviancy that your question suggests, that is just about a dead giveaway that you're dealing with a hysterical slander and nothing more. The technique of telling "The Big Lie" (actually studied in Scientologists' ethics courses as an example of sick behavior), is well known. If Scientology does not respond to such trash, it's not because they're "guilty". Answering such ludicrous accusations only gives them credence they don't deserve -- unless legal action becomes necessary.

"But why would someone say something like that unless there was some truth in it?", is the usual question. The answer is simply that there are some ugly people, that's all, and that's what ugly, scared people do. They make up lies about things and people they don't understand -- particularly sexually-based lies. Careful. Fear is not only toxic, it's contagious.

Im an ex-scientologist and Id have to say NO.
In fact, Scientology doesnt have anything that I would call "ceremonys" at all. Not even the anti-scientology sites say anything like that.
