I just can't decide on what reptile I should get. I'll do tons of research on one, then see another and research that. I would like a medium sized reptile, that can live in a 55 gallon tank. I WILL have all the lighting, heating, feeding requirements fulfilled, I just don't know what I should get.

I would like for it to be able to handle it regularly, not require to much humidity (sprays in the tank with a waterbottle daily would be nice)

I was thinking a blue tongue skink. What do you think

*I will do all the research, and make sure I can handle the pet before I decide to get it

Thanks

Definately a bearded dragon!!

They are the most "pet" like lizard there is! Glad to know you're planning on lots of research. Visit http://www.beardeddragon.org for info on beardies.

They are beginner friendly. A daily misting along with a bath every few days is their only humidity requirement. They love to be handled (well, most of them anyway, especially as adults).

A turtle would be great because they are easy to handle once you got their basics as well if you never had one before they are great. An aquatic turtle such as a painter of a Res, i suggest res( red eared slider) they don't grow to be that big and one or even two could live in a 55 gallon tank. They aren't that expensive compares to some snakes or lizards plus they are easy to handle and safe with kids. They dont need much tank cleaning and food is easy. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Leopard Geckos are a great choice.

They don't require misting, but do need a humid shed box.
They come in great colors and patterns, and grow to about 10 inches. I have 2 in a 55 gal. tank.

This is a link to a care sheet.

That would be plenty enough room for a blue tongue skink. You should do the research and then with all the information obtained, decide what you want.
