Is it worth it to update or just replace.

It's been a very good little computer for the past three years. I think it deserves to keep it's rightful place on my desk but it's getting to the point where I can't buy any softwear at all.

I completely agree with Troll Terminator.

It depends what you're using it for. Email, Internet and occasional letter or short story...then I would keep it and upgrade.

If you use it for more extensive graphics, web, etc., then yes, most definitely out of date and should probably replace it.

A 3 year old laptop can still be very useful - I'm writing this right now on a 5 year old laptop (Dell Latitude C610) with 512MB RAM - it's still fast enough to run XP SP2 at a decent speed (which it's doing), and play video across the internet or my home network. I wouldn't play any current games on it, but it's still quite useful. With a bit more RAM and a tuneup, you could get at least a year or two more from it.

When you buy a computer it's already obsolete. The new one has been on the drawing board and is already in initial stages of production. That's life. Whoah. I think there's a song by that name. . .

Nowadays, a 2 year old laptop or computer can be considered obsolete.

Mine's more than 5 years old and I'm doing just fine with it for now. But then I have all the software I need for the moment, too.

MY Laptop is 2 years old & the technician pretty much told me the same thing! He said not to put any more money into it as it is "old"!

Depends on what you use it for. It's still good for email and surfing the net.
