My question is why are you still married if you have been separated for so long? Are there unsettled feelings that keep you guys from taking the final step? You can look into the law for your state. Some states may declare it as a divorce if the separation is filed and so much time has passed without it being changed.

If you have had no contact - are you sure she has not divorced you? It could be possible.
When no contact is made - there are ways of getting a divorce. You might should check you County Clerk's office for records.

legally you are still married unless SHE went and got a divorce without you. Until you have the piece of paper that says you are no longer married, you're married.

Yes, you have to get a legal divorce for you to not be married. The crazy part is that I have seen a friend of our famiy come into wealth and his ex showed up to fight for half. They are still battling.
