I think we were given tear ducts for a reason. They not only help wash out foreign bodies from the eye they can serve as an emotional release. They are theraputic. When we are overwhelmed by situations in our life a cry can be cleansing. It is never a good thing to keep our feelings bottled up. Tears are for healing the daily highs and lows of life. There are many types of tears.Tears can signify happiness and joy.For example when we are reunited with family after a lengthy separation we cry because we are happy to see each other. We cry when a baby is born.We cry when we are just silly or when we hear something really funny. We also cry when we are in pain. Some people think only babies cry.Tears show we are human.Thank heavens we have the ability to cry.Big girls and big boys need to cry.

It's a bad thing. People feel physical pain to signal that something is wrong. That helps the person seek out the problem and change what's wrong so as not to cause further damage. If you didn't feel the pain of a burn, for instance, you would let your hand sit on a hot stove until your skin was completely singed off.
Just like with the physical pain, our crying is a way to signify a great feeling of emotion (sometimes positive as well as negative.) This helps to signal that something needs attention paid to it. Maybe a relationship issue needs addressed or a tendency towards a certain behavior or thought pattern needs adjusted. If our tears or sadness didn't bring notice to the things that trigger such events then we might never work on our personal problems and become stronger, more mature individuals.

A good cry is nothing to be ashamed of bex. I cry when I think of my Dad dieing so young at 52, when I've had a really big row with Hubby, when I look at how one of my sons has turned out addicted to the Devils Dust and don't even get me started on PMS hun. But however down I feel I always know that someone in this whole wide world feels a whole lot worse than I do.

I don't think it's good or bad really I mean maybe they show their emotions in a different way,or just can't let it all out like, like me I don't really cry in public, but if I do cry I can share my feeling with others if I feel that way.

Not sure Bex.
I'm someone that under no circumstances will cry in front of people, it doesn't matter how upset I am I just can't.
But then I can be sitting at home on my own and cry my eyes out for no good reason!
I always feel so much better when I've cried my eyes oout!

Personally i think that it is a bad thing BEX, i am a very emotional person, and i like to know how other people are feeling.
I love a man who isn't afraid to show his feelings, whether it's love or sadness. My hubby cried at my friends wedding last month, he was just overwhelmed with the service! I love that about him! There must be something psychological stopping some people being able to release their real feelings!

I'm a bit of a tough old bird and can't remember ever crying when something is sad -I , unfortunately , usually lash out , verbally or by throwing or smashing something BUT babies, kids concerts, nice singing, weddings -all happy occasions -well, that would see me fill-up & reach for the tissues!
My brother will always laugh instead of crying-always has-says it's easier- probably because we were brought up to have a 'stiff upper lip' approach to life.

I'd say it's definitely a bad thing. Yah, it hurts, but it helps you to work through the pain and heal. There have been a quite a few times where I would have much rather cried than sit there feeling what I was feeling without doing anything, but I couldn't bring myself to cry.

That's a bad thing Bex because it means they are internalising the hurt, anger and pain and that can be dangerous as it leads to depression. Well known fact too that tears releases the tension and many physical illnesses are caused by stress - especially repressed stress. Why are we maudling at Christmas!!!! Lets all laugh - its the best healer there is!!! Ho Ho Ho - there I have started the ball rolling!!! Love Ellie xxx
