Want to show real mountains to kids, what is the closest mountaineous area to Florida

The Smokies and the Appalachins are beautiful, but they are "green" mountains...not high enough to be above the tree line or have snow on top. If you want to see "real " mountains, you need to go see the Rockies in Colorado. There is a HUGE difference!

I suggest you go to the Cherokee Indian Reservation in North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Mountains start north of Atlanta.

You would have to go to Tennessee and the Smokies to see a mountain.

North of Atlanta, Marble Hill , Dalonegha, Dawsonville, GA area. I believe its where the Appalachians start.

Appalachians. very very old mountains, that's why they are so small.
