If by plane about 1000 miles and a 2 hour flight. If by car about 1470 miles and about 22 hours on the road. If I were you I'd take a plane because you are looking at about $300 in fuel cost alone not counting the wear and tear on the car, meals and motel room. If you are planning a round trip you are looking at about $800-$1000 if you go by car. Economy flights from San Diego, CA to Houston,TX round trip are from $250 to $500 depending on the travel service and the airline.

I have spent the last 30 years in a Hispanic community, mostly Mexican. For the most part, they are as loving as families can be. 15 year old girls still hold they mama's hand in the mall, brothers take care of their younger siblings after school. I have never been worried about them taking over a major part of American, but not all is rosy. The kids who are dirt poor with absent parents, join gangs as fast as they can. The gang become the parents, you can imagine what that leads to. No one wants to produce killers, but America has always been good at it... Billie the Kid, Jessie James, Cole Younger, The Mafia, Murder Inc., Richard Speck, the list goes on and on.
