I have a eMachines T3410 and it turns on but the screen stays black. Please help I need to get an important word document and I am freaking out.

Its not the monitor because I am using the same monitor with my husbands cpu. The fans go on and it seems as if it is going to start but then it doesn't.

Check the cable connecting the CPU to the monitor. Is it plugged in tightly? Did you mess around with the graphics card setting and pick something incorrect? Did you shut off the monitor power switch? Did you change the monitor settings so it is all black? Is the monitor plugged in to a live wall socket and is its power cord in the monitor securely? Do you have a different monitor you could swap in or borrow?

hurm i have no idea but if you need a quick answer try turning on your computer then press the screen power button a few times slowly. (make sure all cords are connected). if neither works fiddle with the cord that connects the tower to the screen.

Is there power to the monitor and is the monitor's power button turned on.
