The problem is that the online databases for these papers only go back to either 1986 or 1990. I live thousands of miles from Seattle. Does anyone have any advice on how I could retrieve the articles I am looking for? Is there a research service that I could hire that could retrieve these articles for me? Thank you.

Perhaps you could write to these papers, outlining what you are looking for, and offering to pay whatever the cost is, and they just might help you out from their microfiche archives.

Maybe your local library call help you get in touch with a library out there or you could try the Internet. See if they can help because many libraries have microfiche of older newspapers. Perhaps they would copy and mail to you for a fee.
