Wow, I hope not. Most of us are fairly aware. It is only when you are young (below 10)that you cannot look around and say, "oh wow, "I am so lucky to have you" as parents, or "to have this life" or house, etc.

In the same token, YOU KNOW if your situation is bad. And when you get out of a bad situation, you say a prayer " I am glad to be out of there" or "thank god I escaped before all hell broke loose. "Some angel made me break up with that loser , look at his gf/wife/spouse now"

There is a God who looks after us.

It happens. Sometimes people take things or even people for granted sometime in their life. Sometimes things or people that we took for granted leave on their own or get sick & pass away. Sometimes it takes a big change in our lifes to wake up & realize that we made a huge mistake with that something or someone who is no longer in our lifes. So yes the sentiment "You don't know what you've got until it's gone," happens.

I honestly have never felt that way. I do try to figure out when I make a mistake that causes me to loose a friendship, and try to make it right if the friendship is good. Sometimes, a friend will stop calling, and I realize that I don't miss him/her. I always had the philosophy that things are they way they are for a purpose. I will try to change somethings that I think are worth fighting for, but, if I am doing all the work, it doesn't take me long to realize that the person or thing wasn't right for me in the first place.

Yup, you got to have something to compare what you got to appreciate it. Like the saying says, I complained about my aching feet, until I saw the man with no feet.
