How do i block websites on my computer?

Question

I want to block nickelodeon.
I got this 8 yr old cousin that doesn't understand how to listen. On occasion I allow her to use it but not unsupervised. Today, i came into my room only to find her and a bunch of kids on MY computer playing games.
I need this to stop.

If you want to block a particular website, the most effective way is to edit your Hosts file. The bad news is that though it is easy to edit the Hosts file, you need to know exactly what you are doing. I've spent a good deal of time trying to find ways to block particular websites and my conclusion is that editing the Hosts file is the only sure fire way to block a particular website. Otherwise, you can use parental control software program but that would be overkill. Ok here are the steps for blocking a website for Internet Explorer

1, Go to Control Pane;
2. Go to internet options
3. Go to the tab that says Privacy and click sites
4. Type the name of the website in and click block

Go to 'tools', the one that has the gadget icon next to it, at the right hand corner of your screen.
Go down to Internet options.
Click on 'security'. Then click on the 'restricted sites' icon.
Then click on the button that says 'sites' and you should be able to control the websites that you want and don't want blocked on your internet.

Depends what browser you have. If you have AOL you can give them a screen name with limited usage in internet explorer you go to internet options then tools then internet options the go to restricted sites and type in the website(s) you want to ban and there you go.

if you dont want him to get access to the internet you can do it the basic way at tools and click " work offline" click it again to get back on.
