Just tell them the truth and add that you had a nice relaxing time home alone. Then ask how theirs went. That will nip it in the bud. Once you let people know you were content being alone, they'll talk about something else.

You don't have to tell them that you spent xmas alone. If you enjoyed the day just say "christmas was pleasant, very relaxing and unstresful" they will probably be more jealous then anything. If you do happen to mention that you spend the day alone and someone says "awww how sad" just tell them that you chose to do this by choice and that you enjoyed it. While you had options you opted to spend the day doing nothing.

Why wasting your time with the opinion or reaction of other people? Why you're ashamed to tell them that you're alone this christmas? Just be yourself! So what if you're alone? It's you're happiness and satisfaction that counts not what other people may think or say about you. You choose to be alone because you wanted to. Are they concern about you whether you're alone or with you're family? Of course not! So what's wrong with telling the truth.
Remember people can make you smile and laugh sometimes but it's you who can make yourself happy.

Tell them that your family is fra from you and you will just give them a ring.. something like that!!

I am working overseas and most of my coworkers are on thier vacation.. so I will celebrate christmas, new year and birthday alone.. its kinda sad for me but thats the reality.. I will attend few parties but after that I will be alone again... for me its ok.. that ok,,, thats life...its good to meditate and reflects everything.. to think about what happened for the year 2007 and what will be the plna for next year.. Its nice to have your own quality time!!! just spent it wisely!!!

It's a problem with you, not in any person. You should be happy to live your life the way you want it, but to do that you need to carry your conscience along. Examine what you do. If it violates your conscience, then you should re-examine that. If your conscience gives approval, then you should be happy with that; what people say would simply not arise.

There's really no need to feel ashamed of it, as long as you were happy and content, and you should proudly tell people that "hey, i just sat around and relaxed, and i was fine with that"...
