Yes... but there's a difference between LYING and LYING!

When speaking to children, we must explain things in terms that they can understand. So, there are some subjects which just go better by telling them "stories," such as thundering/lightening being the angels bowling, etc.

Santa is one of those "stories." There is also factual basis to the "mutated" character of Santa Claus, that when a child learns that the current version of Santa isn't the same as the "original" (actually, it's better!!! The original Saint Nicholas was a pretty scary character!) the child doesn't feel "lied to."

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

O K I don't like to say I lie , rather I infer leading up to we can all be "santa" by sharing , & giving to others as the Lord did ( Jesus Christ ) when he was on earth. It takes alot of thought and practice to pull it off. I hope you and all had a nice Christmas & I hope Santa got back to the N. Pole safely :-) Evie

Of course .... people lie every single day ... including many adults, and for many bad reasons.

At least lying about Santa is a "good lie" ..... :)
Once you have seen a child's face LIGHT UP On Christmas morning and all of the JOY in their expression, you would never question it again ....
:)

Yes ..... !!!

I think they should be allowed to believe there is a Santa until about 10 years old.

I told my 10 year old when he asked if there was a Santa and I told him there will always be a Santa at Christmas to me. Santa is someone that brings you something special at a special time of year. Everybody should feel that there is a Santa at Christmas! And yeah, kids are only young once. We don't ruin it for them at birth telling them that is no Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and Santa.

well, its not entirely BS.A LONG time ago I believe someone actually made toys like simple wooden dolls or trains, and gave them to all the children. It wasn't on a global scale or anything, and wasn't immortal or anything, but I've heard thats where the tradition comes from.Personally, when I have kids,I'll tell them when I believe the time is right.

my answer is yes. it never hurt me any. i don't think i really ever thought he was real anyway. i don't ever remember really thinking about it..it's harmless make believe fun. kids should use their imagination and have something mystical to "believe" in for awhile. there have always been "tall tales".
