I am starting a very harsh medication Interferon and Ribavin and had to get birth control before I start the medication. Upon the exam with my OBGYN he did an ultra sound and said that I have a solid mass with fluid behind it next top my overy. He did say he didn't think it was cancer but scheduled me for a laparoscopy and stated he really wouldn't know until the surgery. I am two weeks late for my period at this point? Anyone know if this is normal. he also asked about tubal ligation since I have three teenagers and I have some other serious medical issues.

If the cyst is related to a hormone imbalance like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, yes, it's possible that it could have an effect on the period.

Also, being stressed about something can cause periods to be delayed.

I would recommend letting your doctor know that you have some additional questions you would like to discuss with him before surgery so that you can get additional information.
