I have always since just as a little boy imagining that my thoughts started from my head(of course they do its really the brain that creates thought), perhaps because the perceived world seems to end right at the eyes, and anything behind the eyes is the perceiver, but I am sure that my sense of thought origination was not due to current science but just raw intuition. In light of the fact that ancient people believed that thought originated from the heart, I am interested if anyone has any information on how this idea was generated but more importantly whether this conflict about the feeling that thought starts from the head is not just an illusion created to fit the current knowledge that we have now or not. Any information would help!

I would assume that the "thought comes from the heart" theories derived from the fact that when a human is excited, angry or any kind of intense emotion, the heart reacts differently, beating faster, or slower or harder. This can be naturally felt by anyone, you ever had you heart "broken"? You know how your chest feels like it's sinking? That is the result of a change in the hearts behavior. In this way, the way we can feel changes in emotion in our chests or hearts, this was maybe misinterpreted as being able to feel thoughts in the heart. This is just my guess....
