Everytime me, my husband, and mother-in-law are driving in the car either her or my husband brings up his ex-girlfried. I just get very quiet and don't say anything. Why do you think this always happens?

next time it happens, ask your husband if they broke up due to his overbearing mom or his under-sized penis, that should cut the conversation short...

Just Wagging here, but it seems two people are doing the same thing. You didn't say how you think your mother-in-law treats you or if she's pleased with you. Sometimes a mother has trouble letting go of her baby boy. This is something you may not be able to resolve.

The other thing happening here is with your husband- he's got to know how you feel about discussing a former girlfriend. Yet he continues to please his mother by bringing up the old girlfriend. This is something *he* should deal with.

Might be, he's not able to grow up enough. An ueberkontrollant mother is tough to lose.

If things are tolerable between you and the ex girlfriend, you might try being better friends. Might be, she had a similar thing happening, and this could be one reason she is an *ex* girlfriend.

If the ex g/f is OK with it, you could always join in the conversation with lots of left-handed compliments- "Her skin has cleared up a lot." Or "Her parole officer says she has a good chance of getting the charges dropped." But this is more a humorous, offensive tack that may not be right for you.

I'm also not sure how you'd feel about the direct approach- "Hubby and mom-in-law, it bothers me when you talk about her. Would you please stop?"

At any rate, I don't think you have an easy row to hoe. Good luck and have a great New Year's!!

She's a witch. Next time you're in the car with them, mention something amazing that your ex boyfriend did. :)

Maybe they try to make you jealous, you need to talk to your husband and tell him that is disrespectful to you and you don;t like it.
