"Pregnancy or periods for that matter does not mean professionalism goes out the window."? I was describing a situation in which I found myself I and used this sentence to describe my sentiment. Do you think it was too harsh? I wasn't trying to offend btw..

You are right The Vilonist, I just figured that would have been the only thing I said that could have offended someone. I didn't realize that I could have said something else in my post to piss someone off. Oh well, such is the life on YA

Ok, I get you. I only said that in relation to the whole situation I was talking about. I didn't I am prejudiced against every woman I work with, I meant that because of my personal experience I have reservations. Ok, you are right, I jumped the gun.

Why do you pick and choose that tiny part of your post, how can you be so sure that that was the "offensive" part?
I think the fact that you dislike working under women *just* because of the fact that they're women may seem offensive to some.
BTW, if you're referring to me, I wasn't offended [I'm not easily offended].
EDIT-"I am still prejudiced when working for women."
I think that's probably what offended some people. Just a guess.
EDIT-lol, thanks. Sorry if I seemed b!tchy in that other thread, I was letting off steam..

One thing that should be pointed out about a future woman president is that she will very likely be post-menopausal so the arguments about how she is being affected by her periods is a moot point. The youngest age a person can become president is 35 and some women are already going through menopause at that age.

I wasn't offended by it because you were talking about a personal incident with a female boss. It didn't seem to me that you felt that all women would be unprofessional under those circumstances although you may have some reservations.
I've had some great female bosses who didn't use their periods or pregnancies as an excuse to treat their employees like crap, but that's just my experience.

well the interstng thing is that men go through hormonal cycles each much just as women do. Sure they dont bleed, but women have pads and tampons and it fixes us right up lol. Of course pregnancy has nothing to do with it. the hard thing is, i figure the only way to be ... if you will.. a true feminist is to not have children at all. because when a woman has children, she is pidgeon holed into the role of mother, which takes away the relatively equal status she has in society, where she can go anywhere, do anything, and not worry if she's got a baby sitter. of course that woudl bring about the end of the human race. and thats where i get stumped.lol

I am a woman and I agree. Pregnancy should not affect a woman's professionalism, neither should her period, just as a mans should not be affected when he is sex deprived or tired. Professionalism is seperate from our personal lives, for both genders

Honesty isn't always the best policy, as you found out. You spoke the truth, yet got blasted for it. Too bad people have such "thin skins"...

Because people have created the whole problem where people think that a women will go "psycho" when that happens. This is the problem with a woman president, men think she will get her period and "hit the red button" when in reality, it didn't take much for the current president to do it, and he doesn't even get a period.

No, that statement is not offensive. There's no excuse for being unprofessional in a work setting.

I'm not offended. Professionalism should not be affected by hormones...for either gender :)
