No, their biggest acquisitions will be a bust. Dontrelle Willis is not going to be a great pitcher anytime soon. He's an ok pitcher who has a few good games. Miguel Cabrera is just a fat load. He'll have a few good seasons, but that's it, unless he slims downs. They completed traded away their farm system for very little, which was incredibly stupid. This isn't to say they won't be a good team, but if you think they're going to be the best in baseball, or anywhere close to it, that's just foolish.

I am a Tigers fan and yes Detroit will be a dangerous team in the AL. They probably have the best line-up in all of baseball for 2008 but the Tigers need to work on their pitching staff. That is their only weakness coming into next season. It should be a great battle between the Tigers and the Indians for the AL Central.

Not a Tigers fan (as you can see), but I believe that out of all the other MLB teams, they have helped themselves the most so far. Detroit had a pretty good team to start with and should be even better this coming season. I honestly don't think they are done dealing yet, as 3B Brandon Inge will probably be dealt (for possible bullpen help?). They should win the AL Central and be a force in the playoffs.

I'm not a Tiger fan...but they have a very solid roster and some great new players. Once we see how the new players adjust to the Detroit environment and how the team plays together as a whole, we'll be able to make a more educated guess about what they have ahead of them in the 2008 season.

Definetley especially adding Cabrera and Willis to the roster. All of their positions are excellent although you could make a case for left feild with jaque Jones. Every other position has a solid player filled in. Rotation is very, very good and their bullpen will need to improve but Zumaya coming back will help. By the way I'm a phillies fan. i wish they would do what the Tigers did.

Yes they will. As will Cleveland. And Boston. (and of course, the yankees "being the yankees").

I honesty think that with the addition of Cabrera, Willis, Renteria, Jacque Jones (and the move to 1st base by Guillen) will rocket The Tigers back into the World Series.

However, each team has to play 162 games to get there, and that is why they the games. I lookk forward to the 2008 season!

I think Cabrera and Willis will have solid years for Detroit.....Cabrera has to control his weight, though. Willis seems to really enjoy pitching for Leyland, and he has to be happy to be with a contender again.

I'm not as impressed with their rotation as some people....some of their young guys are ultra-talented but injury prone and Todd Jones will start pitching more like Bob Wickman one of these days, he's not a dominant closer.

The offense will make up for some of the other shortcomings, although Jacque Jones isn't too impressive. I'd say about 95-67 for Detroit in 2008, division title and a win in the first round but a loss in the ALCS.

I'm a Dodger Fan!
But yeah the lineup looks very dangerous, they are going to wear out opposing pitching staffs!
Also they're rotation is not to bad, Willis, Verlander,Robertson, they just need to fix up the bullpen a bit.

of course. they're the front runners now. but watch out for the tribe if they add Jason Bay. It would make for a good season.

As of now i believe that the American League is locked up.

Boston
Detroit
Angels
New York
