Does the fossil record show that the ancestors of penguins flew??

I am not an expert on birds but I would guess so. I believe the current theory on evolution of birds traces back to a flying reptile that appears to have had feathered wings. This is based on only a few fossils of this particular flying reptile species but the similarities go well beyond just the feathers and wings, it is based on the types of bones and joints.
