... the lawyers in my town seem very relaxed and friendly. Even the ones who work in "unpleasant" fields such as family law (doing divorces, child support, etc.).

I live in a town of about 30,000 people. Are lawyers in small towns less prone to being stressed out and depressed?

No way, being a lawyer isn't depressing. I'm around a lot of them and they're all very happy people. I live in CA so no, small towns aren't less prone to being stressed out and depressed.

I'd be stressed too if i had to be that type of person.. Money hungary liars who will sell their souls for the mighty dollar.. They have no morals as a rule and that alone would stress me out.. They are on the bottom of the food chain as far as I am concerned... But will admit have met a couple that don't follow the mold, but the majority does.

What I have seen. The amount they con, rip, people off and just do people over has to be wearing on one`s soul.

But I am sure all the cash they roll in taken from the mouths of small childern can find the help they need. If not then they can sue to make them feel better.

If you like doing homework for the rest of your life then go for it and become a lawyer. Who likes doing homework? Not very many people. That study is probably correct!

I know a lot of lawyers who're stressed and overworked - especially in things like public defenders offices - but not that many who're depressed.
