Does he work? How come it is on your credit card? Did you ask him? I think you two need to sit down and have a heart to heart talk. Are you both on the same page?

I got a GPS too and I love it; but that's not your question.
If my boyfriend had bought it with my credit, I wouldn't be too happy. Friends that I know who are married actually keep separate Christmas funds so that they don't end up paying for their own gifts over the next year by charging to shared credit cards.
Maybe he plans to pay off the charge quickly; he just didn't have the money in time for Christmas.

Does he love you in other ways even if gift-giving isn't his strong point? It sounds like you are seeking outside opinions to justify being unhappy with this guy. This is at worst a silly story to tell later on. Don't let this be a deal-breaker in your marriage that is just getting started. If you can't laugh now, how will you deal with something really bad?

Her credit card, his credit card - your married isnt the money that will pay the bill BOTH of yours?
Since when are the holidays about material things? Get over it and learn to look at the good things you both have going for you.

Well, I'm not married, but my parents would, and still buy each other's Christmas presents with BOTH of their money. They never distinguish between his and hers, because they view that as selfish. They've been married for a long time, so I suppose that they know a thing or two about finances. I wouldn't be hurt, but if you don't like it, then return it.

This is not romantic at all, but who initiated the purchase if your credit card was used????What is your financial situation? And do you know what his previous situation was with his ex wife? Perhaps they were very practical, everyone is different. Find out before you jump to conclusions.

Hmmm, might he be in financial difficulties after the wedding (the wedding etc. would be more important as a memory, right?)? Or he could be starting low so as to improve each year.....just trying to look at the glass as half full....

talk to him- some men by the time they reach a certain age are set in their ways, for what ever reasons- their past. maybe he honestly didn't think about what he was not doing- understand. otherwise this is not a good start to your marriage
