tbh i bought mine very little compared to previous years but my parents did them proud as they do for all their grandchildren it made it easier for me , they have gone to bed happy , and contented and they have their holiday memories too to fall back on when the presents get broken or forgotten xx

it warmed my heart, lol. But she warms my heart in other ways. She totally deserved the gift I spoiled her with today. She has earned that many times over this last year.

I go WAYYYYYY over the top with the pressies for the grandkids that I would have liked to have been able to afford for my own kids but was too poor. The favourite one , the 8 year old told me was a '£1.49 message egg (-water the seeds and Happy Christmas appears in 5 days) and the 1 year old preferred her brother's rugby ball and last year's toys in her toy box !!
I love their little excited faces so I always leave one present here under the tree for them to open when they call in and so do the other nan's - oh! how Ellie must miss just the simple things, like 'smiles' when her little ones are so far away- Hurrah for camera phones !
Me- I'm a big kid, too and my best present was the CD 'Dream boats and Petticoats' -blasting it out right now and reminiscing the 50's and 60's -my face is lit up !- well I am my mum's kid and I I've got a ciggie going -sorry, Gartom

Seeing a child's face light up at any time strikes me as being a wonderful thing......but I know it must mean a great deal to a parent at this time of year....as I hope to find out if I ever become a parent. We had a good day here....and my family seemed happy with the gifts I bought for them....which is very important to me these days. We always seem grateful for the things we are given at Christmas in our family....my mother was reflecting today that none of us have ever really made a fuss because we didn't get what we wanted in past years.

Glad you had a good day!

So glad you had a good day Bex. I don't have little children anymore and my grandchildren are far away in Athens so I didn't get to see them but I still had a great day too and can remember when my two girls were small - seems like only yesterday! xx

My boys didn't have a lot,Bex but they were always happy on Christmas Day.
I'm not sure that it is the same for my grandsons - they get so much all year round anyhow ... but I stayed home today anyhow ...
Glad your's went well - yes gifts are part of it I am sure - after all we all remember the Gold,Frankincense and Mrryh - not that mine ever got that!

My relatives and I had our Christmas dinner at my aunt's place. Instead of exchanging gifts, my relatives and mom gave me an amount of money and told me to buy my own present, and that was my point for going to the Christmas dinner.

Yeah I do miss that bex with mine being grown up but my youngest at 14 to a certain extent does have that look on his face when he opens his surprise pressies from us.
