Look at the Peugeot Diesels. Extremely reliable fast and very economic.
Second Peugeot now, you need to buy about a year old, maybe 2 low mileage as the devaluation on the first 18 months is high.

How much are you going to spend? There's Mini Cooper, Acura RSX or NSX, Scion TC, Chevy Corvette (Z06 if you can), BMW 3 series, Honda Fit,Infiniti G35,Mazda Mazdaspeed3, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Pontiac Solstice, Volks GTI. OK, that's about it for me. Have fun and don't pay too much

I love my Ford! Very reliable. Look at the Fusion - it's fast and both my Fords are reliable.
and it's not an import.
jbpopem: Did I 'rag' on imports? I thought I just suggested that he check out the Fords. Which company doesn't outsource anymore?

Subaru Impreza WRX or Legacy GT. Test drive both, you'll be impressed.
Just so you know "The Fusion is manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico".
edit: my Legacy was manufactured in Indiana.
