I was wondering, mainly for other countries besides Australia what public holiday's you have and do you get paid to have them off / extra pay to work them.
In Adelaide, Australia:
Christmas day
Proclamation Day (Boxing Day)
Good Friday
Easter Monday, I thing Easter Sunday is a p/hol too!
ANZAC Day
Labour Day
Queens B'day
Australia Day
New Year's Day

I also get 4 paid weeks annual leave, 12 paid sick /personal days off and 12 rostered Days off.
I always take a sick day for my b'day, St Pats day and Melbourne Cup day.

I am in the USA, my company gives the bare minimum
New Yrs Day
Memorial Day
Fourth Of July
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
Many companies here give a good deal more, day after Thanksgiving, Veterans Day are two common ones.

Melbourne gets Melbourne Cup Day too.
"It is up to each individual company as to whether the employees get paid for the days off."
How sad. In Australia they are all paid holidays and these are completely separate from the four weeks paid annual leave.

I am in the USA and work for a company owned by Germans, we get 10 paid holidays, one floating holiday (we choose the day), 3 personal/sick days and vacation according to how long we've worked there, I currently get about 6 1/2 days per annum.

I'm in the US. I get eight paid holidays. New Year's Eve and Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas Day. Due to customer demands, we may have to work on those days. If it is a federal holiday and falls on a normal work day, we get paid time and a half in addition to the holiday pay and being able to select one non-paid work day we want to take off within a month of the holiday. If it is not a federal holiday, we get paid regular pay (unless we are already on OT) and the holiday pay.

I get New Years day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2 days) and Christmas.
My company (in California) also adds a floating holiday each year (this year it was Christmas Eve), plus you get to take a paid day within 30 days of your birthday.
