Don't get oscars. You're going to need a 100 gallon tank if you keep two of them, and even in that case they'll probably fight if they're not a mated pair.

If you want to go with aggressive fish, such as cichlids, stick with ones that stay smaller. (Ideally 6 inches or less).

Not all of these are compatible with each other-
but ...
angelfish
apistogrammas
convicts
firemouths
flag cichlids
German Blue Rams
Severums

Here's an awesome website with a lot of different information about SA cichlids.

Good luck!

You don't have the experience or tank for aggressive fish. In a small tank such as yours you will always end up with one aggressive fish.
First learn how to care for less challenging animals and work your way up to the more difficult types.
Generally there are no really "aggressive" fishes. It's not evolutionarily sensible. The term "aggressive" when applied to pet fishes usually is an industry buzz word for "needs a larger aquarium than most people are willing to provide".
Do some homework, learn how to care for fish properly, get a book or two.
If you want to keep Cichlids, first study the family,it's a very large one, that includes literally hundreds of different species that live all over the World. If you are considering buying fish from a store that has a tank labeled "assorted cichlids",then you are in a store that sells fish that they can't even name. If you buy there you will be disappointed.

Don't get any plecostomus. They will either get eaten, or grow out of your tank. Even though a 29 is usually considered big, it is too small for hypostomus plecostomus. A smaller variety such as a bristlenose would be okay. Oscars, dempseys, firemouth, pirahna, and angels are all really cool. Good luck, and CYCLE your tank.

29 Gallons sounds nice and roomy for new fish :] May I suggest Koi, or Ryukins. As for more aggressive, a great tropical pick is the Bala Shark. They are great in groups of 4 or 5. Although...you may need a top for your tank if you chose Bala's. They tend to jump....But they look incredible and are a gret aggressive tropical choice :] They look like little blue tip sharks and are very aesthetically pleasing.

Oscars but, no more than two in a 29 gal. tank. They are very aggressive and, I even trained mine to jump out of the water and take live food (gold fish) from my hand.

no plecos! get Chinese algae eaters for tank cleaning, I suggest ghost catfish they are clear and you can see their bones! Also Bala Sharks, maybe just piranhas?
