you all probably didn't even know i wasn't around because i haven't been online for very long. i just wanted to let you know that i have missed talking with all of you and hope you can give me some advice. i have been diagnosed with oral cancer and it has gone beserk in the last 2 months. has anyone been through this or knows someone that has? i know i should go on a different catagory but i prefer to talk with people my own age. don't mean to be a downer, just could use a friend

Well, here goes,if you don't know, I am an old semi retired nurse with lots of experience, and my own sister is still going throught the cancer treatments she started about a year ago. We just had the funeral for a friend with throat cancer, hers started about a year ago also. Now, please don't think I am being down, but I really believe that in order to whip this you need to be honest and committed. If I just try to cheer you up and say everything will be ok, I am cheating you.
One of the most important things is attitude,there are lots of small things you can do every day that over a period of time will be very beneficial.
From this site people will pray for you, but you need your own prayer or mantra or whatever you believe. I open my arms and hands to the sky and ask for healing, and do it lots and lots. If you have never done this it will seem strange, especially if you have to get away from the "critics" around you to do it. This is a start, email me if any of this is something you want to work toward........Moey

I am so sorry to hear this news. May something you read in here give you comfort or the companionship of the people give you peace. I know nothing about oral cancer but my sister is battling renal cell cancer and is having excellent results with a drug called Nexavar. You should do a google search of Nexavar and Sutent. See if they are used for oral cancer. They really work on the other forms. GBU.

I don't know anyone with oral cancer, but I have had friends and family with other types of cancer. A positive outlook goes a long way, as well as taking care of the body as a whole.
I am sorry you are having to deal with this, but as you see, you have many prayers and much support around you here. We are here for you, whenever you need us, remember that!

I am so sorry to hear your news. This is the place to come when you want to share things & by doing so tonight, doesn't make you being a downer. No, I haven't been diagnosed with it, nor do I know of anyone who has gone through it, personally. I will include you in my prayers starting tonight.

I have a friend who has had throat cancer for quite some time,she has been going to Sacramento for treatments for the past five years and is doing very well,also my husband and i came in contact with a nice gentleman who attended ,"Hot August Nights" in Reno this past year,it's a classic car show,he had mentioned to us that he had throat surgery for removable of the growth and has to drink water all the time to keep his throat moist but he is cancer free now for seven years.Your faith is probably stronger now then ever ,faith is a wonderful thing it can move mountains .keep yourself busy and focus on the positive,and also God gave us a promise ....He would never give us more than we can handle.

Granmom, sorry to hear of your malady and will put you in my prayers where all things are possible. I think you'll find friends to talk to here and hopefully keep your sun shining while the clouds are overhead. Though not in tune with your particular type, I have a cancer situation that's behaving right now and can empathize with your discomfort and unease. all I can contribute right now is the advice to keep the faith and a smile on your face, it will do wonders in making your innards feeling better (chicken soup for the soul). Please jump in on the stuff that takes place here -- there's a passel of folks here that are bound to brighten your corner for you if you let them.

I am so sorry to hear this. I knew a woman down the street who had it but that was 35 years ago, much has improved over the years. I will certainly add you to the church's prayer list. I wish you al the best in the future

You are going to get lots of good advice, prayers etc. I would like to add a couple of things !!!!!! Medical Science has come a long way as you know !! They can do wonders today !! I want to tell you first to act and think like you will be fine because you will !!! And never ever give up !!!!! You are stronger than you can imagine and will get stronger all the time !!!
