Although, my husband loves my grandparents, my parents drive him crazy!!! His parents also drive me crazy!!! He also has sisters that hate me because I'm not Mexican, but we don't worry about them! We worry about our family. We have 5 beautiful kids, and we focus on them and eachother. When it comes down to it you're not living with the extended family, so who cares what they think.

I used to love my wife's family, I had respect for and loved my mother-in-law as my own mother and my sister-in-law was the same. One day I overheard them and I found out that the love I had for them was one sided. I quit going around, staying to myself when forced to go. I rarely see them anymore at all. I never told my wife, even when I was the SOB when they complained about me not being the "same". They despised me anyway, why bother. Never again will I give my love so freely and completely. YES, my hurt has turned from bitter hatred, to indifference.

And, I might add, my wife was ALWAYS a witch with a capitol B to any and everyone in MY family, never even tried to get along.

Yours is a very important question ,
When my wife and I got married , we liked each others families .
WE both looked forward to gaining relatives.
After our first child , things changed .... my wife hates my family .
I have always tolerated hers .
This family subject is a major factor in our marriage .
Now that my wife hates my family she has decided to hate me as well , we are in councelling.

I loved my in-laws. When my husband asked for a divorce I was blindsided! I told him I wasn't losing one person but a whole family. It broke my heart!

I don't allow any member of our families to interfer with our marriage or our love for each other. You can't please everyone and I gave up trying a long time ago.

Their are things about his family that annoys me and things about my family that annoys him. I couldn't "hate" them, because they are the family that influenced who he is today, and I love him for who he is.

You can't please everyone in life ! I say concentrate on your immediate family (i.e Husband and children) they are what's most important to you now !
