Being from New England I knew a long time ago about that, even though in the local markets of the two teams the game is broadcast on local free television. The powers that be in Conneticut and Rhode Island have been pleading with the NFL to make this game broadcast everywhere for free, specifically in those two states considering they ARE a part of "New England". To this point the NFL has not budged, you are able to view the game at a local sports bar.or on the NFL Network, but if you do subscribe to Verizon internet they were offering their customers the ability to watch the game online for free.

I do have the NFL Network with Verizon Fios TV but know that a lot of companies don't offer this channel with basic cable. It's a shame considering the popularity of the NFL.

It had been a controversial topic on sports-talk radio in northeast Ohio for several weeks. The entire controversy with Time-Warner Cable & not offering NFL Network/Big Ten Network on all packages in this area absolutely stinks. This is what happens when communities have exclusive cable rights, hence a lack of competition.
