It's physical teasing. Women are NOT ready without a bit of teasing in the right areas. Light teasing. Feather touch.

In human sexual behaviour, foreplay is a set of intimate psychological and physical acts between two or more people meant to increase sexual arousal. Foreplay generally precedes sexual intercourse.[1]

It involves different acts such as kissing, touching, embracing, talking-teasing etc.[2] Sexual stimulation of all kinds such as stimulation of erogenous zones by hand or orally are considered as foreplay. Sexual role playing, fetish activities, and BDSM can also be considered foreplay, though they may accompany intercourse rather than precede it.

zorenzo's answer really disturbs me, i feel sorry for the guy because he does not know how to satisfy a woman. most woman need foreplay because it takes a woman longer to become stimulated and reach a climax. foreplay is what the name implies, play before you penetrate... have fun!!!

It is actually a golfing term. When you take a swing with your wood(y) and your ball is heading over the bunker with the hole in sight amid the turf it is customary to shout 'four' to warn everyone else to keep out of the way so as not to deflect your missile from reaching the hole.

As four is shouted while you are playing-a-round it can be referred to as foreplay.

There is another explanation, it's on the tip of my tongue but I can't remember it.

My dear William! It has to do with gently preparing a woman for sexual activity, i.e. not just jumping on her and expecting her to be instantly aroused.
Personally, I appreciate after-play. I don't appreciate it when as soon as a man has ejected, he turns over and starts snoring, lights a cigarette or goes off to make himself a coffee. That makes me fell like an object! I might as well get paid for sex like that.

Its what swingers do. Four people get together and play thats why its called foreplay.

Kissing, petting, touching, dirty talk. Those things before actually engaging in sex and it's suppose to make the sexual experience better.
