Hello,

(ANS) YES! I can try to help you with this problem. YES! setting up wireless connections are made to sound so easy but the truth is much more complex from my own experience.

OK! I'm going to assume you already have the wireless router plugged into the phone line and the power supply and that its already working but for the desktop machine.

No.1 For the desktop machine, you will need either a PCI wireless adapter card which has to be fitted inside the PC (or) a USB wireless dongle type wifi network adapter both should work. Obviously the USB wireless adapter is much easier to install.

No.2 Once you have the Wireless adapter fitted into the machine, the next step or stage is to install the device drivers for this wireless network adapter. The drivers should have come on CD or DVD disk when you purchased the network adapter or might have come with the machine in one of the boxes as its a new system.

No.3 once you have installed the network adapters drivers you may depending upon the operating system your using i.e. windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista. Need to have other software to help windows detect a wireless network.

NOTE: This detection software is already built into windows XP with service pack 2, it should be able to listen for wireless networks locally. I think Vista has this two but I never quite go that far with Vista.

No.4 Once you have both the wireless network adapter installed & the drivers installed & working and the network detection software installed. Your next task is to configure the wireless network card.

No.5 Your PC's wireless network card must have (note: This is VERY important here) the precise same SSID & encryption key as used on the wireless router before the machine will be able to join your wireless network and before it will be able to connect to the Internet.

**You will also need either a dynamic or static IP address for the machine, also the IP address or hostname of the ISP's DNS servers (primary & secondary DNS servers) also your ISP account's username & password too.

Hope this helps?

Kind Regards & seasonal wishes from Ivan

Firstly, I will assume the PC is running XP rather than Vista, because I don't know much about Vista.

You have to set up the PC for networking, and you should make sure it is set to connect to whatever your network is called. Right click on the "My Computer" icon on both PCs,click on the "computer name" tab and check that the "workgroup" name is the same on both PCs. You can change this if necessary, but you will need to restart any PC that you change.

After that, go to control panel and find the "Network Setup Wizard". Run that on the new PC, and you should find that it solves your problems. If you cannot connect wirelessly to your router, think about connecting via the RJ45 cable that came with your router and putting the router on top of the new PC (that works in this house) until you can sort out your wireless issues.

Make sure that your router will accept the new PC, you may have set your security settings so that your wireless network cannot be detected by the new PC, if so sort it out using your existing PC.

Good luck and don't give up. Certainly don't part with loads of money to sort it out. I'll try and help you further if you get stuck - email me.

Some just don't work.
I found it kept going off.
You can connect to wireless connections
that aren't yours. So try one of them for now.
Or if that does not work press F2 and FN.

However if this is not what your looking for contact your router suplier and your problem should be sorted in no time

Have patience :)

i think you would be able to desire to hook it up on your pc with a pass over cable and enable ICS (in case you utilize domicile windows) so it shares your pc's information superhighway connection. it appears like a super sort of concern on account which you will then would desire to alter your pc on whenever you prefer to play on your xbox. you would be able to besides run an prolonged community cable on your router, that way your connection isn't based on your pc.

Well,
I know that you have a wireless router, so far so good;
now check if you have a wireless card in your computer, GO TO:
(START - Control panel - performance and maintenance - computer management - system tools - device manager -network adaptors)
YOU HAVE IT ? yes , good.
Now go to network connections (Start - control panel - network connections) and select the wireless network connection and right click (mouse) -repair ) .

is the pc a wireless model?,if not, you will need, either a dongle, this plugs into a usb port,or you can have a card which slots in the tower ,these will make it wireless capable and should now connect to the router.
good luck
