well to sink u have to release air in your body, not recommended..might drown... and to float fill your body with air...
practice is all i can tell you

yes, deep breath alot.

what you do is fill your lungs, then when u get underwater, slowly release the air though your mouth or nose. when you run out of air to breath out, come back up.

so the trick is to breath in as much air as possible before you go under

It depends on your lung strength.

Dont smoke or do anything else that will harm your lungs, and you'll be able to breath longer.

Also, do lung excersizes (deep breathing excersizes)

professional frre divers exhale all air before going underwater. they do lots of practice and learn to exhale all air before diving.

i would have to say.... less body fat. Since fat is less dense than muscle it makes you float easier. Try losing more fat and gaining more muscle if you're trying to sink faster. :-P g/l
