Does that mean they also dismiss the cell theory, the theory of gravity, the theory of plate tectonics, the theory of electricity?
Cells.......speculation?
Gravity......a scientific conspiracy?
Observable annual continental drift..........crap?
Electricity......bunk?
HONESTLY, how deep in denial do you have to be?

well, they dismiss it for a lot more than that. Evolution directly contradicts the idea that god made man exactly as he is today, which the fossil record shows is not true. But I agree, it is a deep form of denial. The bible, like most religious texts, was used to explain things that couldn't be explained at the time, such as the origin of man and the unpredictability of the seas. Some of us admit to knowing better, the rest enjoy their version of the truth.

A theory, by definition, is something that can be substantiated by fact, or can be proven by application of Laws or conformation with other accepted theories. Whereas a Law, like Gods' Law, cannot be explained by facts or experiment, but must be just accepted as a given. Science prefers to accept precious few Laws, and relys mostly on theory and experimentation where possible. Essentially, if a Law can be proven, then it is not a true law after all, so science does not mind that evolution is relegated to the status of theory.

Sometimes it becomes easy for the mind to engage in a sort of reverse logic, if you will.
An example is the case where the argument is made that the niche was created for the species, opposite to the logic that the species' adapted to its environment.
I believe that nothing is absolute in Science, in that sometimes our bedrock theories and hypotheses crumble in a future mind!
Just look what Einstein did to Newtonian physics! And in turn, what quantum physics did to just about everything under the sun!
What if it is all a grand illusion? Science at least respects the unknown and the domain of possibility.

This is what people do when they refuse to think. For the fundamentalist everything is done by God. Honestly we humans are just starting to take the first steps and we are automating thing. Why would god not want things to take care of themselves as long as they can.
Since all the theories above explain in quite a lot of detail what goes on in the world they don't accept it as there is no hand of god needed.

It's easier to dismiss something on semantics than evidence. They tried competing with evolution and failed miserably, so they resorted to this tactic instead.
In all due honesty, maybe we should have chosen a different word for scientific theory that didn't mean something very different in normal English.

I think you have hit it right on the head. They believe in the pronouncement of Bishop Ussher that the world was created in 4004 BC. That rules out any possibility of rational thought with respect to the sciences.

Theory is unproven facts, considering it is a theory why spend so much time dealing with it. Leave it to the authority. If they can prove it then it will no longer be a theory but a given fact.
Denial? If you are saying it is a denial, why asked if it is a theory? Denial means evasions of truth. If you think it is true then why bother?
Another thing, why did man stop to evolve if evolution is right? Things do evolve but what kind of evolutions are we talking about here? If it is ape to man then man to what?
