Generally, it is people who tend to be more liberal that support Big Government and Wefare or Social Programs. Conservatives feel people should be responsible for themselves. Would it work if we let conservatives keep their hard earned money, and let liberals set up their own philanthropic institution seperate from government so they could nanny people from cradle to grave ?

I don't think anyone is stopping liberals (or conservatives for that matter) from setting up philanthropic institutions outside of government and many (of both parties) have.

The fundamental problem is that over 50% of the wealth in the country resides with 1% of the population. These are the people who are needed to make charitable institutions adequately funded. If people gave on there own and there wasn't a need, there would be no argument.

Is there any difference between the liberals and conservatives?
Stereotype:
Liberal ==== Social Welfare
Conservative ==== Corporate Welfare.

Any Questions?

Definitely. Not to "nanny" people but to make good on the laws that are passed. When government doesn't make good on it's promises, people of conscience should step in and do the job. Everyone is not going to be rich and powerful. If they were how would any work get done? Do you think a richy is going to get out and tote that barge? Heck no.

there are many many non-Conservative charities...not associated with religious persuasion....but the point is that you, as an individual cannot decide what our society deems important enough to fund with tax dollars....you cannot divest yourself from the responsibility of being a citizen....I have to accept many things our government does that I personally do not like....your complaint is meaningless unless there are enough like you to sway elected politicians...and thankfully about half of Americans are willing to provide temporary safety to many....a person can only get a limited amount of state aide anyway.....

If you had a real issue with examples instead of this general attack on Liberal people...you might be able to build a case, but then that would take logic and a sense of fair play

It showed one of the most rundown towns in America on TV the other day and it was right in the heart of where the rich liberals live in California. One has to wonder why such a place would exist when millionaires are all around it! They talk a lot about giving but do not practice what they preach.

Actually, if you look at all the major philanthropic enterprises, you will find a liberal behind it...

Maybe conservatives should start actually giving instead of doing things for the tax write-off?

The door swings both ways buddy!
