I think the Grinch was much more mean because Scrooge simply wouldn't give and had no generosity, the Grinch on the other hand tried to take Christmas away.

Well, Scrooge was cold hearted, but he didn't steal toys at any point or time. The Grinch did steal, but in a situation like this (talking about PG movies) its hard to find enough evil in them. Plus, theres a huge gap of time between these, so yeah. merry christmas ;]

Scrooge was mean, but reluctantly relented.....
Movie "Scrooged" starring Bill Murray is excellent modern version of Scrooge character.....Very Heart-warming...!!!
