It might b b/c of all the holiday festivities that he hasnt eaten right. Instead of just depending on medicine he needs to fix his diet. Therefore, make him eat fiber rich foods such as cheerios, metamucil, etc. Stay away from sticky mushy foods like bananas and peanut butter. Key remedy is to drink lots of fluid. This probably might be the reason why he was constipated, dur to the lack of liquid in his body to let number two come out easily. Cranberry juice and water helps a lot!!! Make sure he get 8 glasses (8 to 10 oz.) daily. Keep eating nutritious foods!!! Also, instead of all those medication, jsut use one type of laxatives like exlax or Phillip's laxative that is good to ur body...I hope he feels better sooN!!

Constipation is usually caused by not eating enough fruits, vegetables and other fibers and not drinking enough water. It is usually not serious. Not everyone has a BM every day. Some people go several days to a week without having one, and that is normal for them. Constipation is not determined by how often someone goes, but by hard and difficult it is to pass. Elderly people often get constipated, and need to use laxatives, enemas or prune juice.

Eat more fiber.
Fiber helps form soft, bulky stool. It is found in many vegetables, fruits, and grains. Be sure to add fiber a little at a time, so your body gets used to it slowly. Limit foods that have little or no fiber such as ice cream, cheese, meat, snacks like chips and pizza, and processed foods such as instant mashed potatoes or already-prepared frozen dinners. The chart below lists some high-fiber foods.
High-Fiber Foods
Fruit Vegetables Breads, Cereals, and Beans
Apples

dont do the other suggeston about the oil. it is not a huge deal if he has not gone in a few days. over the counter laxitives work well. not sure what "medicine" he took. magnesium citrate works well. comes in a small bottle with different flavors. not really harsh like exlax and others. if he is still having problems he can get a fleets emema at the store that will help also.

Don't risk his life asking here. Call 9-1-1 or take him to a Dr. Nobody here should be considered an expert on health, specially if there is an obstruction of the digestive system. Take him in NOW.

Normal bowel movements range from 3 times/day to 3 times/week. If this is not normal for him, try Milk of Magnesia 2 tablespoonfuls, or a Fleets enema. Tell him to eat more fiber and fruits & vegetables!
