Studies done in the 1980's seem to indicate that music that stirs up the soil particles and allows more air and water to reach the roots will help plants grow - but its not the music itself, its the sound vibrations that affect the soil.
So if that is true, then rock&roll would work best.

Studies on humans indicate that Mozart (a classical composer) can help people think better, be more creative and improve memory. But there are no comparative results on the effect of classical music on plants.

Most of those plant/music studies I saw were flawed - more than one variable was changed and so the effect of music wasn't definitive.

not certain if it will make them grow faster, but according to some studies they seem to have a preference for classical music, so none of the above

Depends on the plant. Country and Western makes my corn grow faster, reggae makes my cannibis taller, but Opera makes my cotton lose their bolls faster.

Research has been done regarding plants being receptive to certain frequencies of bird songs with regard to growth...very interesting field of study. Sonicbloom.com
