my colour cartirages have been gone except black, can i get b&w printouts without replace blank ones ?

When you want to print something, go to the File menu, then click Print from there, rather than clicking on the printer icon. From the pop-up print box, select "Properties". That will take you to your printer's options page, where you can select Grayscale or Black and White instead of the standard color option. Click on your choice, then that should close your printer option box, then click OK on the print window.

It depends on the make of your printer. Some printers will not print anything if one cartridge is empty. Others will allow black printing if the colour is empty. All you can do is try.
