It is a book that made an attempt to speak to a nation. Twain was a man that had harsh views on racism and slavery. That is to say that, he hated them both. In some respects, this is a diaolgoue of his beliefs and ideas on those very issues.
Twain is also remarkable in the scheme of dialect. He treats it as an art form. He masters the dialect of several regions and squeezes them all into the book.

Least of all it is about growing up. Above all, it is a book about freedom. Freedom in all its glory and splendor.

It's wickedly funny. It's moving. It's scary. It deals in a profound and humane way with the issue of racism, which lies at the very heart of American history and culture. Hemingway said that Twain's novel was the wellspring of all subsequent American literature. You can decide for yourself whether he was right about that. Whether you agree or not, you'll never forget some of the characters you meet in the pages of "Huckleberry Finn."

Hemingway said, " All modern American literature comes from one book called Huckleberry Finn. There was nothing before. There has been nothing as good since."

Of course, you may have more important things going on in your life, real important things like playing video games, watching tv, talking on the phone, going on the internet. The choice is yours.
