to keep you on his string.

Or maybe because he IS thinking it, but knows he isn't ready, other than what he might be feeling for you

I would say that after 2 years of dating, there should be a ring and a date. Otherwise, you need to get out of the relationship if you would like to be married and have a family someday. You could find yourself still dating this guy in 10 years because that is the way he likes it, no commitment. Tell him that it isn't a joke to you. Then listen to what he tells you. If he can't commit, then I would get out.

He might not know if you would be willing to marry him. This way he can find out without having to ask you and you telling him no. He also might just want to know if marriage is in your future. He might want to marry and have kids and not waste his time with a woman that does not share his same hopes for the future.

Ask him about the jokes and tell him how you feel. Jokes are so hard to read sometimes and can be easily misconstrued. Maybe he does not see the relationship the way you do. Just ask him Good Luck

Its possible that his joking means that he is trying to feel you out on the situation. Maybe deep down he wants to get married or he feels that you would like to get married. He may be checking the situation by joking to get reaction.

I believe he is trying to get your opinion about the situation, just act cool about it, just joke back with him. I would recommend that you read Men are from Mars, Women are from Mars by John Gray.

he's trying to ask you inconspicuously so as not to give you the idea that he wants to propose but he wants to see how u feel about it
