I'm a hardcore Christian and my voting record my entire life has been 100% democrat.

If you really study was Jesus taught, it is the basic platform of Democratic policies.

They do seem to have a monopoly on hate filled Christianity. I am a Christian but the Savior I believe in is filled with and guided by love. They believe if your opinion differs from theirs, you are wrong and unchristian like.

we are all human - full of opinion, beliefs, and faith. That faith may be in God, other goodwill, or just the fact that someone won't run a red light. Either way, no large group of people will ever see eye to eye on everything - and each one will be certain that they are "right".

Religion is one of the hardest because it defines right and wrong and anytime you say something is wrong, people's little feelers get bent!

Jesus had no problem with paying taxes, following orders, or even respecting government. But to say that he would be a staunch Republican or Democrat - a liberal or conservative - is impossible. He turned the paradigms upside down 2000 years ago and (my opinion is) he would likely do the same today!

I too am a Christian, and I believe Jesus did not say to take from a man what was rightfully his. Christians believe in being charitable, and to give to our own churches and charities.

I do not begrudge giving to the disabled, the elderly or disadvantaged children. I don't even begrudge helping a person down and out, but if he is able bodied, there needs to be limits.

I do not believe Jesus said to kill unborn children.

Jesus said, "If you know the truth, the truth will make you free, Knowledge is freedom." The truth is not to ban religious freedoms. Free to pray wherever you want, even if it is a school, a park, or what the Democrats try to ban.

Conservatives believe to give intiatives and incentives for higher education. Teaching a man to fish, is much better than giving a man a meal, for he will never go hungry.

Oppressing people by not giving them the ability to learn, or self-reliance is not the way a conservative Christian thinks.

That is why I choose to be a Republican. However, Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thy self."

Love and Peace my brother on this Holiest of days.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

I am also a hard core Christian and have also voted 100% Democrat! From reading all of the above answers, I'd have to say the MSM has done it's job well, miss-informing the masses! Or maybe their just" Buttheads"? WE, know what is "right" and what is "wrong",and the last 7+ years have been wrong! WAY WRONG!

They are flattered by the "liberal media".

For instance, when Christians protested Blockbuster Video for carrying Disney films... that was the height of their delusion.

They were protesting "Gay Days" at Disney World in Orlando... Blockbuster took down all the videos that were produced by New Line (Disney's "alternative" videos).

Then Disney responded by telling Blockbuster that they were recalling ALL Disney videos... even Snow White.

That put an end to that madness real quick.

Now there is a Disney section that even has Mickey Mouse ears on the endcaps.

Christians do not weild the level of control in politics that they would have you imagine.

Why does every group that attacks displays of religion seem to be democrats? The ACLU, the freedom from religion foundation, Michael Newdow. I've never heard of any conservatives trying to ban prayer from school, take down crosses near freeways, or nativity scenes from city property.

The separation of church and state, as described by the constitution, forbids government from making religous laws. It doesn't ban government officials from having their own religous views or practices. Voting for representatives that reflect the voters' views determines that.

Jesus taught to give voluntarily not to rob from some to feed others. You have Jesus confused with Robin Hood.
Outside of that I will never understand how you reconcile abortion with your Christianity. Children hold a very special place in God's eyes. To call them "only a fetus" and discard them like yesterdays trash is certainly not an attitude in the Bible I've read.

They don't... It's just that people with a guilty conscience perceive it that way
And the Democrat Party Platform is in *NO* way related to what Jesus taught... Not even close... Not even in the same ball park. In fact, much of it is diametrically opposite to the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus advocated prayer, open public displays of ones faith, did not advocate abortion, or same sex unions. hardley a liberal democrat. He also said " if a man will not work, he should not eat". again, hardly liberal ideaology... then again, you must remember there is a difference between being religious, and being a Christian. If going to church makes you a Christian, does going to my garage make me a car???

I dont think it has to do with conservatives thinking they have a monopoly on religion as much as it is the fact that the left wing of the Democratic party (yourself excluded of course)...spend most of their time attacking, insulting, and smearing religion, and those with religious values.
People remember that come election time.
You cant be intolerant of people who have faith and expect them to be tolerant of your viewpoint when its blantantly insulting to them, their religion, and their personal right to have faith as a foundation in their lives.
The left wing has gone too far in branding conservative Christians as "racist, homophobic, and hateful" people.
And they have responded by shunning them at the poles... and voting for any candidates supporting traditional conservative political positions; IE: pro-life, ant-gay marriage, Pro-religion, etc.
To sum it all up... its more the fact that conservatives are turned off by the leftist rhetoric that democrats refuse to refute.
Thus...MOST of the religious right have turned away from the Dems... enmasse.
Can you blame them?
