When customers think they are better than you just because you work in fast food and they don't.

People who think working in fast food is a "McJob".

When you apologize for a messed up order and they say, "You should be sorry".

Customers who order special items thus slowing everything down and then they complain it is taking too long.

Alright... Retail too, and all restaurant employees.

Heres my point of view . I don`t work fast food or a restaurant. I have worked many years in retail, with similar experience as you people.. First 90% of people are not rude or nasty, but those few that are will be the ones you remember, right? Those few that are are the one that will spoil your whole day and make you feel Like everyone is nasty.I personally treat everyone in retail or restaurants with respect , it`s an honest job and nothing to be ashamed of. I respect someone trying to earn a living doing any job ,over someone who is able to work and sits on their bottom collecting welfare . So my word of advice is even though I know it`s hard when someone is giving you a bad time, but try and shake it off and treat everyone how you would like to be treated. And you will come to see when you look back on the day that most people are decent .

I don't work in a true fast food place, more like a "fast casual" restaurant. Kind of a Panera Bread type of place. But there are still plenty of annoying and stupid things customers do. These are my picks:

Let their kids throw food all over the floor and leave a complete pigsty for us to clean up. And letting their kids run around. Not only is it rude and disturbing to the other customers, but it's bad for us too because when we're trying to carry trays of food, they could bump into us.

Talk on the cell phone while they're ordering (especially when they clearly can't multitask at all, so they end up ordering the wrong thing or forgetting to order something because they're so distracted...but then blame me for getting their order wrong)

Not bother to read the menu so they can see what comes on their food, so then they order something that has an ingredient or topping that they don't like or that they're allergic to. Again, they might blame me for it, or even if they don't, it's still annoying because all they had to do was take a few seconds to READ so there would have been no problem and we wouldn't have to waste food and make them a new one.

Get mad and blame me for things that I have no control over. If you think our prices are too high, you need to take it up with the manager, I certainly didn't set them! It's also not MY decision to not make some salads in a half size, or to not let adults order off the kids menu. I'll tell people as nicely as I can that I just can't do that, but they insist that I need to let them have a kids meal even though I'll get in trouble with the manager, or that I MUST give them a certain salad in a half size, even though it is completely impossible to even ring it up on the register.

When some huge soccer team or just a big party shows up unannounced. I'm not saying that they just can't come period, but it would be common courtesy for them to just let us know ahead of time so we can prepare. When they come unannounced we're obviously not prepared. So we'll often run out of silverware, and we may be understaffed since the manager didn't know to schedule more people.

Coming in really close to closing time (like 10 minutes) and/or staying way past when we close. There are just so many little tasks to get done as well as sweeping and mopping the entire restaurant and we get slowed down so much when people do this. Of course we don't expect to be able to go home right at closing time, but we also don't want to have to stay an hour or more PAST closing time, because we're tired and we have lives too! Many of us are college students and have to go to school early the next morning so working late is the last thing we want to do. Some people have children that they need to get back to.

Customers who come in the drive-thru during the winter time and after I have told them their total, they still take all day getting their money while Im freezing my butt of in the window.

(For resteruants with two menus outside)
When customers sit at the first menu for a million years thus providing us with more backed up cars then pullng up to the second window and saying "Can you wait a minute"

Customers with screaming childeren in their cars so that you cant hear the order and then they get mad when something is missing because you couldnt receive the "full" order.

What is wrong with men? Is it possible for ya'll to actually be less disgusting? Mens restrooms are the most disgusting things on the face of the planet!

Customers that look at you like you are less of a human just because you take orders for your paycheck.

People that oder extremly big orders through the drive-thru and expect them to be made as soon as they get to the window.

Customers asking me how much something is...LOOK ON THE MENU!

Customers that kid mad at the employee's just because a certain sauce is out. I.e. bar-b-que, zesty, honey mustard.

People that say "keep the change". I get in trouble for having a draw thats over.

Kids that want to "pick ans choose which to toy they receive when I have 6 customers behind her.

I could go on ALLLLLL day!

Merry Christmas people!

..Oh yeah I work ay Burger King & Wendys

People who would come up and request like 20 extra sweet and sour containers at McD's and then get mad cause I had to charge them for it( I gave them 2-3 with thier original order). If the manager wasn't looking I would just give them away to avoid conflict.

People who had stupid coupons that they couldn't understand when they weren't valid for what they wanted. Why are people so cheap its just fast food you don't need a coupon.

People complaining about why certain things were taken off the menu. There is nothing I can do to change that!

Probably what I really don't like is when it's super busy, we are short staffed, and people still complain we are too slow. one time, we had a whole bus load come in plus our regular customers and we were obviously busy cuz half the lobby was filled with people and someone still complained about how slow we were. Sometimes, I just want to say "Well, then come back and help us!!" but I just apologize politely and try to not let it bother me.

I don't really care if they think they're better than me simply becuase they have what they think is a better job. I like my job and if I worked a "better" job, but hated it, then it's not really a good job at all.

"I've been drinking whisky all day outside and I think I should just get it for free!"

Homeless people who pee on the building or puke on the floor inside are the worst.

Don't people know how to use a toilet? They pee all over the toilet seat.

Drunk people going through the drive thru are scary. "I want a pepperoni pizza with tofu HA HA HA oh is this Burger King BA HA HA!"

Managers who scream at us for no reason.

I definitely agree with the comment about the people who think they are better than you. I used to think that until I needed a job and got into working fast food.

I worked in the drive-thru at McDonald's and I hated it when they would blow smoke in my face.

Also I really hated it when they made me wait to take their money/order so they could talk on their cell phone then get mad cause it's taking so long!!

Number one
I hate it when people drive off on me at the order board when I'm in the middle of talk to them. Like when I'm asking if they want any sauce, or if their screen is correct. Then they come to the window and wanna take their sweet time to pay. I just wanna be like look, you were in a rush to get to the window and u can't have your payment ready? I'm on a timer you know.
Number two
For the love of God, if you have a 20 dollar order, don't pay in all change. I don't have time to be counting all that.
Number three
I absolutely hate add ons at the window. It throws me off. I work at Taco Bell. And I hate it when people wanna add on a quesadilla at my window. Like we coulda had that done if u ordered it at the order board. We gotta steam it, and grill it which adds like 40 seconds to our 75 second time. So anything grilled or steamed are the worse add ons
I have more but I'm tired of typing lol
