As a long-suffering Illini fan and alumnus, I can speak for many like-minded people when I say that just going to a bowl game of ANY kind is a successful season by our standards. However, playing USC in their own back yard is rather scary, so I hope we don't embarrass ourselves. Also, we generally don't want too much success too soon for our coaches because we'll lose them to a bigger football factory.

Illinois played and defeated more Top 20 teams than did Ohio State. I wouldn't take them lightly. USC may have more atheletes but the Illini are playing very well. Ask the Buckeyes for a reference.

Not a supporter....but I'm hoping to see some good football. Last years bowl games were all snoozers...(except the fiesta bowl)....so while I may be hoping to see USC lose....what I'm really hoping for is a good, exciting football game. Zook has worked hard to rebuild his program...this should be a good test to see where they are.

If Juice plays like he did against OSU, it should be a very exciting game. I am not an fan of either team, but it is one I definately plan on watching.

Illinois is garbage, and this is a perfect reason of why there should be no contracts going into the BCS bowls, b/c Illinois does not deserve to play in this game. The Big10 sucks, and since Ohio St. won it and plays in the natl title game the 2nd best team (which is a 3 loss horrible Illini team) goes automatically? Ridiculous. The top teams need to go regardless of conference, contracts need to be terminated with the BCS and conferences. It allows a team like USC to have a crap season (by their standards) and yet still get love form the BCS b/c the Pac10 sucks.
