Not all are round. But why do they make round meat when bread is square? Hmm, maybe it is very easy to make it round because all they do is stuff a large piece of thin skin with ground up meat to make a round lunch meat.

it was probably because the meat used in a sandwich was that which was stuffed into the intestines of animals and then smoked or cured into sausage or bologna and since intestines are round, hence round lunch meat....

For the same reason that they make hot dogs in a package of 8, and the rolls in a package of 10, they want to make life more interesting for us.

It's the plastic casing, which is usually a tube shape.
There are lunchmeats that are made into a meat loaf shape.
