Being different is a good thing, but not always and easy thing.
These days, our society frowns on individuality. Labels are quickly slapped on anyone who isn't like everyone else, and unfortunately, this has discouraged a lot of people from being themselves. We understand little beyond our own borders.
In my point of view, If you follow the crowd, you disappear in it. If you stand alone, you stand out. Very few people have ever become great by walking the beaten track all their lives. Different = Difference. There are a lot of things I could say on the subject, but I think that if you want to make a change in the world, you have forge your own path, not follow the ones that others have made.
Personally, I don't really want to be associated with half the people in the world today. The world has issues, that's perfectly clear. Dare to be different.

Every single expression of nature is new and unique yet of the same unified essence. It isn't 'good' or 'evil'. It just IS.
Choosing to conform to social/cultural norms or not has nothing to do with what you are. 'Acting' like a certain idea or stereotype of a character in culture is striving to be popular. Trying to be 'different' is another act which chooses 'anti-popular' or subculture icons to mimic.
In the end, the only way to be 'different' is to just BE and that is already the natural state. Not a 'good' or 'evil' thing.

Being different, is life itself, WIth movement we live. Without movement ,we are-- well, dead as a doornail
Everybody being the same is scary. Think about it. The body itself strives to have different appendages for survival. If the body did not attempt to develop specialized limbs, we would still be amoebas.

Humanity is much like a jigsaw puzzle. Every piece forms part of the puzzle. Of course, there are some misshaped pieces that won't fit in anywhere, but each part that can contribute to the puzzle with his or her unique attributes adds to life.

When the herd of lemmings is going over the cliff, isn't it a good thing for one of them to say "hey, just a minute here!"...
... and if he can't get anyone to listen to him, at least one lemming will be saved to carry on the lemming tradition.

Actualy by trying to be "different"..one is the same..!!..
because we "ALL" want to be different.. so just that very
wish makes us all very "simular" or the "same"!!
We are all the same in the fact that we all want to be different!!
