I think both.
There are certain personality traits that are inherited, such as, for example, predisposition towards studying... A certain way of being brought up and educated is another factor that influences the development of one's personality, one's behaviour and one's way of dealing with problems...

Personality is effected at least 50/50 by both biological/genetic factors. 50% Biological input and the other 50% from genetic input.
Biological, meaning the factors surrounding the person such as outside influences and other things.
Genetic, meaning the factors from the family that in some way the offspring resembles and shows in it's own personality.
Asking if it is 'acquired' is a general question because there are many ways by which it can be acquired, especially depending on the person, situation, other variables etc.

I'm sure it is both. And to a certain extent a matter of choice. And the way we choose is also probably some of both nature and nurture.
A good argument against nature are wimpy little morons like a certain politician that in a world without restrictive laws would have been exterminated from the gene pool completely by now.

Certain basic qualities are inherited, the rest is acquired from the society as a whole.
The society itself, for each individual, depends upon the inherited qualites he has brought from his parents.

Personality is both inherited & acquired over the years.
Certain traits like honesty, sincerity & leadership qualities are inborn in u & they can be further shaped & honed to perfection as u grow up, over the years.
Nobody is born perfect, but u certainly can bring urself closer to perfection.

I believe that 75% is inherited and 25% is acquired. What comes to us naturally is from the genes and who we try to be is the acquired part.

i guess its a little bit of both..mostly it is something you acquire, and the fact that my grandfather was a nice person, gave to the poor, helped old women cross the street even when he himself couldnt see his own shoes, doesnt mean that i'mma be a nice person.....we collect all these personality traits from others, learn what is best for us, what personality is detrimental to us, what is good for us, and so forth...its a bit of both
ever heard someone say "he is nothing like his father."? or ""just a big chip of the old block, like father like son"? something like that, works both ways
best regards and merry christmas

There's a section of the book "Freakonomics" that is all about this. The author builds an argument using data from research on adopted twins, suggesting that very very little of one's personality comes from the people with whom one was raised. It's all genetic.
