Absolutely not. I am agnostic which is very close to that. I don't see any reason why it's scary.
EDIT - To "Neweyes": You're completely wrong about what you said. Just because someone doesn't have religious beliefs, doesn't mean they follow popular moral standards, like Hitler's. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. If anything, following a particular religious belief (especially Christianity in America) is following the popular moral standard.
I have my moral standards just like anybody else.

Not really, because whether they know it or not, not having any religious beliefs is a belief in itself!!!!! And just because a person doesnt have a religious belief, this doesnt mean they do not have moral beliefs. There is a difference!! hope i was helpfull!!!!

No, people are just people. I dont base my fear of people on their beliefs about religion or sex or anything like that. Fearing another person for me is based on whether they have threatened my life, are acting violent towards me, etc. Beliefs about religion is very personal I think. I dont offer my belief in God up for debate or discussion unless someone asks and usually others who dont believe are the same. I appreciate that as I find it irritating for people to just pop that subject up out of the blue....but I dont find it scary.

When most people say "religious belief", they mean the mythology that inevitably accompanies a religion. People who recognize that myths are myths do not scare me. People who believe in the myths are unsettling, and some are terrifying. Remember that in a myth, anything, but anything can be justified by adjusting the myth.
