Here in London at work. Arrived home after work at about 4pm London time and switched on the TV to find out the weather prospects for September 12th 2001. Instead I saw pix of our beloved sister city of New York apparently on fire, with an enormous pall of smoke bollowing out.
I knew in that instant that even if I had been half asleep, that Britian was already awake and doing something to come to the immediate aid of NYC and the USA.
As a first sign of our total commitment to the United States, our ally, the Queen ordered the Band of the Grenadier Guards to play the American National anthem all the way from Clarence House in the Mall to Buckingham Palace at the changing of the guard at 11am September 12th 2001.
God Save the Queen.
America, Liberty.
PS I cannot express how enraged I was then and just how angry I remain today, six years on. I will not forget what America has done for us and remain in 100% support of any action which the American people and their government should choose to take.

I was student teaching at Centerville HS in Ohio and a student in my second bell class came in and said that a plane hada just crashed into the World Trade Center. My cooperating teacher thought that, while very interesting, was not sufficient to alter the lesson plan for the day and so we actually kept teaching for another half-hour or so until the principal came on the public address system and explained what was happening. We spent the rest of the day watching the coverage.

It was a nice sunny day. I was 19, and I learnt it from my roomy when I returned to the sublet from my seminars. I didn't care first because I didn't even know what the World Trade Center was. When he said the Pentagon was bombed too, I realised only then it's something big. After all, the world's strongest country's department of defence is pretty symbolic. We had no TV, so next morning I bought a newspaper, but it took a week or so till I actually understood what happened.

I was relaxing at home before I had to go to work and decide to watch some music videos on VH1. In the middle of a video they cut in with the news and showed video footage of the planes crashing. I was just shocked. You hear about terrorist attacks in other countries but not the U.S. til then. I worked in a mall at the time and when I got there I was told that the mall was closing in one hour because they didn't think it was safe to have malls open in case they were targets.

I had stayed home from school that day and my sister called to tell me to turn on the TV and informed me all about it. A friend of the family had died-she was an elderly women-a grandmother to many- she was in one of the planes. Since then I have several close cousins and friends over there making sure it never happens again.

Well two weeks before then I was actually in one of the Twin Towers (the one that gives tours), and I remember everything about it. It had 200 something floors and we rode the elevator and my ears got plugged. Then when we got to one of the floors it has a food court area. I remember looking down from the window and seeing how tiny everything looked. I remember when we left and we had to go down escalators. When the towers were actually hit though, I was in third grade in class and my teacher got a call from her husband and she would not tell us what happened. Then we were let out of school early and when my mom picked me up I found out what happened. I remember seeing it on the news and everything. It was so sad.

at high school when it happened, got an announcement of it at 9:30 by then my whole school knew of it. One of my classmates went up the street and could see people jumping out of the windows of WTC from the tv in the pizzeria. Sad stuff but you get over it, anyway the new WTC is being built and there never forgotten.

I was actually, with my wife, in Corfou (Greece). In the airport, waiting for our return flight.
We were hearing rumors, and we feared all flys would be cancelled but they were not and we came home at about 12:00 pm. I then opened Sky News and heard all the horror of it.
This was the last time I took place in a plane.

I was working for an airline. We always treated accidents like a death in the family. The lady sitting next to me was sent to Pennsylvania to help the victims. I was over 55 so they sent me to early retirement. I still carry a lot of anger towards those evil doers.
